View Full Version : What's that squeak?

Trucks going in tomorrow afternoon for a checkup. 2001 D/A, 86,000 miles.

There is a "squeak-squeak-squeak" that's throttle related. As I accelerate the squeak starts and increases in frequency and intensity as I depress the pedal. Seems to come from the engine area. If I lay off the pedal (coast) the squeak immediately disappears but comes back as soon as I return significant pressure to the pedal (for you Ford guys--yeah, I checked under the hood--the hamster's not hungry). At about 30 mph it melds with the other engine noises. I have noticed no effect on performance. Revving the engine in neutral--no squeak. Coasting/accelerating down hill--no squeak. Cold engine--no squeak with acceleration, only happens when it's at operating temp and I'm accelerating. The harder I accelerate the louder the squeak.

Any ideas? Thanks, Jeff

Try a little belt dressing, just to eliminate that possibility
