View Full Version : New here, have a question on weight.
I just traded my 03 2500HD 6.0, on an 05 D/A 2500HD ext cab sb. Can anybody give me an approx weight on this truck. I am trying to ball park my GCW when I pull my trailer. I pull a 20' GN combo stl Featherlite which weighs 5100 lbs empty. With 4 horses and tack it will weigh 10,000 -11,000. The D/A pulls this trailer like nothing, its great. In two weeks I'm headed to Colorado with four horses on a pack trip. I will be the lone Chevy in a group of five trucks and trailers, all hauling four horses with similar trailers and weight. All of them are Ford Super Duties with the 7.3 Diesel and one V10. I think I'll eat them, but not sure. How will I do?

See the post by rdlit in the following topic: Truck Pulls (http://forum.thedieselpage.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=008874)
rdlit's 03 2500HD ExtCab SB recently weighed in at 6680 lbs at a truck pull.

I have a 2500HD / DMAX / Alli / 4x4 / Extended Cab / Short Bed truck. As delivered from GM (with a few gallons of fuel) it weighed 6400 #'s. After adding a number of accessories listed in the signature, plus a fifth wheel hitch, a full tank of fuel, two adults, one dog and a tool box in the bed, the truck was recently weighed at 7200 #'s. So this should set an upper and lower bound for you on the weights.
Thanks Gentlemen thats about what I had it guessed at.
I have weighed the truck full of fuel and bed empty several times and now just use 6,900 as an empty weight. Good enough for making I am not getting to far overweight anyway.

50+, I know you've already figured out the weight thing. Sounds like a fun trip. I know one thing you can do. You can get there and back on a lot less fuel than the F***d guys can. I wouldn't worry about being shown up by any stock truck regardless of Brand or stock engine. That Dmax loves those Colorado Mountains. Mine keeps saying take me back, take me back.
Thanks for the info. I've made this trip 8 or 9 times but never with a diesel. Cant wait to get the cruise set and let it eat highway. I'm anxious to see how the D/A does between Cheyenne and Laramie on I80 on the way out, and back. All the gaser's I've pulled through there got the job done but worked their tales off.
