I have been looking on Ebay and AFE, Volant, K & N are all pretty close in price, which is the best? Also where can I get a ram air hood, painted my color?

I really like the MAC intakes. they go for about $240.00. The True Flow intake is nice and uses a foam filter instead of gauze and goes for about $310.00

After reading about dirt passage and that the AC filters would actually flow more air than the engine can use , I wonder if the added cost really buys us anything. The cost of marketing/advertising those aftermarket filter units must be 80% of the price they charge.

My 6.0l gasser picked up 2mpg w/ a MAC intake and a Magna flow muffler. The intake plumbing on the gas trucks looks a lot more restrictive then the Duramax's though.

The true test would be for someone with a dyno to buy a few of these and test them out...

The "cold" air aspect of thinks is a bit hard to dyno test... but it would certainly reveal if the stock intake system is restrictive or not.

In a turbo isn't the air gonna get heated and cooled by the turbo/intercooler?

I haven't done it w/ a truck, but on my buddies S2000 the cold air intake that drew it's air from the front air dam area made more HP then the short ram style that appeared less restrictive but drew it's charge from the engine compartment.
