Wait to Start?

I am a previous Ford PSD owner w/ new '05 D/A. Had approx. 1 month. Have never had the wait to start light (squiggly as I tell my wife) to come on even in the morning. I live in TN and have had nights of about 70 deg. The Ford always had a wait to start even when hot. Is this normal for summertime?

Here's a brief history of how GM trucks have told us that the glow plugs are cycling:

'85 6.2L - "Glow Plugs"
'96 6.5TD - "Wait to Start"
'03 Dmax - "Squiggley Thing"
