First of all, Mdrag, you might be interested in this....
I have had the K&N filter in now for about 40K miles, and currently, I have not oiled it for about 15K - 20K miles (been a while, but just dont remember). I have been driving in normal conditions, with some dirt roads. Not a lot, but some.
I just got my analysis back from usoil.com, and ALL came back normal.

using AMSoil 15-40, miles tested was at 54,947. The viscosity at 100C cSt was at 14.9.
Fuel in oil: <1%
Water<.1 %
Soot <.1%
USOIL.com's comments: Wear metals and contaminant levels within normal ranges.
Currently using the ACD filter from the dealer....
