GM supplied LLY fuel filter question?

I just purchased a Duramax. I wondered what size particulates the GM fuel filter was rated to? Would a second in line fuel filter be a good idea?

Bill,

A second filter would never hurt. I don't remember the numbers but the OEM filter (in my opinion) doesn't stop everything. I've had my injectors replaced twice and both times the dealer said there was rust and crud in the injectors. I now have a Raycor (I think) mounted under the floor with a filter that will stop bad thoughts and it has an aqua blocker. Then I run Standyne products through it on a regular basis.

I have 160k on the odometer and most of that is with large trailers. I feel REAL good about the extra filtration.

I kinda squirm when asked about microns etc as many overrate their filters and just because it SAYS 2 or 4 microns that does not say anything about how effective it is at that level.

Secondary filtration is definitely a good idea.
