Just bought a new Duramax Diesel and this is my first diesel. I am in Houston and it is 75 degrees even in the morning. I turn the key to on, but the glow plug light does not come on. It starts fine if you wait a while or just crank it over immediately. Is this normal or do I have a problem?

At 75 degrees, on my truck it is about 50/50 wether it comes on or not, and when it does you just see a flash and that is about it.
Even cold, -10 to 15 degrees it only comes on for about 1.5 seconds.
I would say you don't have a problem.

Thanks for the reply jackrabbit.
anichols,
Congratulations on your new ride http://forum.thedieselpage.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif
As Jackrabbit said you most likely don't have a problem... But, if it gets a little cooler and you still don't see the glow plug light, check to see if there is any white smoke coming out the exhaust when you first start the engine. White smoke results from un-burnt fuel and can be an indicator of a problem with the glow system.
