Hi,
I just removed my 6.2L front cover to inspect my timing chain deflection. The deflection is just over 1/2". I've checked it three separate times. I assume that I should leave it alone, from reading the R&R Guide. I also noticed my aluminum front cover has a crack extending across part of it, causing the gasket surface on one part to be uneven. Can this be repaired? I tried to look up the cost for a front cover on gmpartsdirect, but it wasn't listed. How do you get part numbers for all the stuff they don't list on the search catalog?
Thanks for any help.

Front cover part# 14044971.

For parts search you may try the military manuals on LOGSA (http://www.logsa.army.mil/etms/welcom1.htm).
Parts manuals for the CUCV (all with the 6.2 engine) are covered under Pub# 9-2320-289-34P

However, keep in mind that only parts for the military trucks are listed, i.e. you won't find any parts for the light duty C-engine (emission controls etc.).

Regards.

I've seen several timing covers on eBay lately.
