I found an '85 K20 Silverado with a 6.2L for sale and I'm interested in it, but I have a few questions for you guys. Here it goes...

-Current owner bought it in 1995 with 140,000 miles
-Truck has about 193,000 miles on it
-Engine supposedly rebuilt by original owner at 125,000, but no documentation was given to the current owner to verify this
-in '96, Banks turbo and exhaust installed and injection pump rebuilt (still has original injectors)
-Less than 10,000 miles on new clutch, rebuilt SM465, and NP208 t-case, new radiator, timing chain, and fuel lift pump, brakes front and rear
-in '97, FF 14-bolt swapped in the rear
-3.73 gears
-Paint, moldings and trim less than a year old
-Ramsey 10000lb. winch and bumper
-about 50% tread on Les Schwab 255/85R-16 tires
-Misc. things like diamond plate toolbox, CB, alarm
-4" ProComp lift and Rancho RS9000 shocks

I haven't seen the truck in person yet, but it looks clean inside and out. The owner said it has two leaks, one where the oil line from the turbo returns into the engine, and the other is a bolt on the transmission that needs sealant on the threads. Also, he used it to pull a 28' travel trailer. He's asking $6,550 OBO. I know it's hard to tell without seeing it, but do you guys think that's a fair price? Thanks for any advice.

For that money you could have a 94-95 extended cab, but all you can do is look at it and decide for yourself.
With 200k on injectors it won't be long before replacements, also check the balancer 200k is about it for life span.
I can't really talk cause I don't even know how much I have in mine but probably more that that.
But still wish I had an extended cab.
Worst thing is I have never seen a 73-87 4x4 that could anywhere match the ride of the newer IFS trucks.
I want to retire in a couple of years and do a little RVing but won't be able to do it with this truck it just rides too rough.

Yeah, that's pretty darn high for an 85 3/4 ton. I probably wouldn't give more than $3K for that, the guy might have a lot of money invested in it but you can't expect to get back what you spent. Up here you might be justified in asking that much for an almost-mint K30 dump w/plow, but definitely not for a pickup.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah, I felt that it was a bit too much. I just couldn't see paying that much for it. I've been looking for an '85-'87 4x4 6.2L off and on for a few years now and I think I'll pass on this one if he doesn't want to come way down on the price.
