Could TDP members give me names off dealers who do mail orders outside the United States and specific to South Africa as I banged my head a few times when I got this response if I wanted to order engine spares or body parts.

I wrote:
Please quote to supply a high flow 195F thermostat for my
Blazer as the 180F make it run to cold. Also quote S&H via standard air
mail to Pretoria.

The reply:
I am sorry we currently do not ship outside the United States unless it is to a Military APO address.

Thank you for choosing www.GmPartsDirect.com (http://www.GmPartsDirect.com)

Help from members are greatly appreciated as technical info and spares from the USA is not easy to find in South Africa

Danie,

yes, it's sometimes hard for us overseas 6.2l drivers. Not alone that we're kind of banned in our countries because of the big, oldtimed and loud trucks, but also kept from building up these lovely engines :D

Here are some of the online dealers who do ship overseas (at least to germany):

DIS (http://www.dieselservices.com/)

Kennedy Diesel (http://www.kennedydiesel.com/)

Global4 Autoparts (http://www.global4autoparts.com/default.htm)

Car parts America (http://www.chevy-autoparts.com/)

CarParts.com (http://www.carparts.com/servlets/WebEPC?WC=jcw-carparts)

Partszone online (https://www.partszoneonline.com/index.php)

Rockauto.com (https://www.rockauto.com/applet.html)

Keep in mind, that shipping and tax (don't know about that in south africa) could be easily double the costs. Also warranty and core charges could sometimes be a little tricky.

Our exchange rate:(SA Rand) R6.75 = $1.00. Take invoice amount add 30% excide duty plus 14% value added tax then add shipping and that's what we pay for the item!!!!!

Sorry for the boo-boo

I work at an auto parts store.. and I'd be glad to buy the items and ship them to you for actual shipping charges. Doesn't bother me and I like to help people out. I'm not clear on exactly how to ship the items, but I'd do it and you could pay me via paypal or something. Stuff like thermostats and the like are easy for me to get.. Some specialty diesel items we don't carry though. You'd have to go to the places listed in the above post.
I get a 20% employee discount as well, so that may help defray some of the overseas shipping charges.
