I was driving my truck today and the wires to the manual switch I installed for the TCC on my 700R4 burnt up. It was a real scare for a bit.

After I made it home. I starting checking for shorts. All seems to be well with the wiring; so I'm thinking the solenoid shorted.

What is involved in replacing it? I realize the pan has to be dropped, but what is involved after that to get to it? Is it in the open or is it under the valve body or anything? Do you remove it's screws and then does it come out easily or is it attached by some means to something else?

I received a new Rostra solenoid today. It looks pretty straight forward. Two mounting bolts and two wires. From what I have been able to find; it seems that I can bypass the 3-4 switch and have lock-up from 2nd gear up. Of course I will use the manual switch for when it is not not needed.
