I thought this had been covered but I am unable to find the thread.

I have replaced the cam driven vacume pump with a HMMWV, hummer, humvee, type mechanical drive. Its got a threaded fitting and a square hole for the cable.

Does anyone know a supplier for a mechanical driven tach? I am having no luck googling.

Thanks
Pete

Check one of the local boneyards for big rigs, 18-wheelers and such.

AC, SW,, etc, made 2.5-3" round mech tachs, 3500-5000rpm.

jcw.com carried several for a very long while

Hammerwerf Thanks.
I dont know how I missed that the first time. Guess I just looked at the diesel tachs, and those were electric.
Thanks again.

Borg-Warner also offers mechanical tachs. They are available thru Car-Quest dealers that I know of. We installed one on a 6.2 diesel with a 3 5/8" diameter face with 0-3500rpm range. It uses a mag pickup off the ring gear teeth.
