New member and diesel owner. I have an 84 M1008 with the 6.2L J code engine.

I have a push button glow plug controller.

I bought some AC 60G glow plugs, but it appears that the spade connection is fatter than what I've got in there now (9G?).

I don't have much wire to work with so don't want to change the connection on the wire side and don't want to re-wire the entire system now.

I am tempted to "customize" the spade connector on the 60g by a few millimeters with some tin-snips to make them fit.

Does anyone think this will be a problem?

Thanks in advance.

You should have 13G in the truck now if they have the narrow tabs, those are the military plugs.
Are you running a 24 volt system or a 12 volt system?
Yes you can trim down the tabs on the new plugs but....
If your running 24 volt then you need to leave the two big resistors in circuit that is mounted on the firewall.
If your running a 12 volt system then you need to take those resistors out of circuit to get the correct voltage to the glow plugs.

I ground the 60G spades down on my military rig and they worked really well with the big resistor rig the milspec uses - YMMV, but that 24/12V system has to be the weirdest setup/design ever!
