timing Inj pump on 82 6.2-help

I swapped a 82 6.2 into my 89 chev pickup, keep it serpentine. Got it running, seems to have a miss that it did not have in the truck it was in before I swapped it. How can I test timing on the engine. I have lined up the marks but hope to fine tune it with a timing light. I have a induction timing light. red clip, black clip, and 1 that clamps on a wire. Need to know how to hook up the light and time it. Thanks

You'll need something like a Ferret 764 diesel timing adapter, which is a piezoelectric clamp that clamps to an injector line and converts the mechanical injector pulse to an electrical impulse and has a loop of spark-plug wire that you can clamp your inductive pickup to.
