Iam installing a 1987 700r4 in my 83 c30. I was wondering whats the best way to hook the TCC engagement, also can you have it locked up between shifts?

I would use a manual switch if I were doing it. Yes, it can be engaged during shifts. I wouldn't do it with the hammer down though.

It depends on the builder of the transmission. You can specify OEM wiring or custom. I asked my builder to install a pressure switch and wiring that would allow me to set automatic lockup (which kicked in above 55mph in my case), manual lock up in 2,3 and 4 and of course, with my 3 position switch I installed, no lock up at all.

I did the same thing with my 82 K30 and had the builder make the lock-up non electrical. My present truck has toggle switch that controls the lock-up. I like the toggle switch much better. Go to 700R4.com for a wealth of information.
