My power steering pump started dumping fluid. I replaced the pump and all high-pressure/return hoses, bled the system as recommended (turning wheel and pumping brakes).
I had bought a power steering filter but forgot to install it. Anybody use the filter in their engines?

My engine hasn't used a PS filter for the past 150K+, I replaced my hoses recently and everything still looked good.
YMMV, but the PS/braking system is closed and unless you have to add fluid regularly because of leaks, it's less likely to get contaminated apart from component failure, so you should be OK without it.

I have a filter and a cooler installed. I did it simply to increase the fluid capacity.
