Update Glow system Question

I have a 1983 GMC K2500 "J" 6.2 that I would like to upgrade the current system to the 85 & up electronic system.I've searched the posts and have a question. On the glow plug relay (current)
there is a connector and a resistor(3 ohm) these arn't addressed in the topics I searched.I was wondering if anyone who has done this conversion what happens to them?I had my glow plugs replaced with 60 gs so I have a cold start problem .Also does anyone have the AC delco part number for the wiring harness?

The component on the glow plug relay is a diode, not a resistor. It's put in to keep reverse current from the field current collaspe in the relay coil from being felt back on your sensitive components, ie, radio, cruise control circuitry, etc...

If you do a search you can find several topics on this subject on how to wire the newer style one piece glow plug controller/relay into the older round glow plug and seperate relay. The wire harness to connect to the newer glow plug controller is only available at the dealer.
