swapping a 85 6.2 engine into a 89 6.2 pickup, wondering if the 85 pump will work with the acessories/hookups on my 89. The pumps look the same, except for the throtle cable linkage, can this be unbolted from the 89 pump and put on the 85 pump. Also wondering if i need the block mounted fuel pump on the 85, or if I can block it off and just use the frame rail pump. thanks

The pumps are interchangeable. It could be the '85 pump is newer than the '89. Depends on which was replaced last. Check the MGF and date codes on the tags. There may be minor adjustment differences with fuel volume (depending on engine code and state of destination), but either pump will work on either engine. If you find the injector line fittings are different (rare), keep the lines matched with the pump. If the engine was from anything other than a pickup or Blazer/Jimmy (like a hmmwv, van, Workhorse, etc.), there will be other differences, but none you can't work around with the parts you have on hand.

Good choice keeping the serpentine!
