85 6.2 into a 89 6.2- Help please

I am swapping a 85 V-belt 6.2 into a 89 serpentine 6.2, I put the correct serpentine water pump in the egnine but nocticed the old 89 did not have the fuel pump on the block and used the frame rail pump instead. When I install the 85 6.2 should I remove the block mounted fuel pump and just use the rail lift pump or do both. Thanks

Fuel pumps....

Keep the mechanical, and disable the electric (install a manual switch). Mechanicals are more reliable, and much less expensive, not to mention safer. No OPS to worry about. Many folks have done the opposite, although I never made sense of it. Too much money on hand, I guess.

Use the electric to prime when doing filter replacements, or when needed.
