I have an 85 CUCV with a 6.2 and it needs a new set of glow plugs. I got a set quick heats from Kennedy. Any suggetions or tips for replacing them.

Best bet is to remove all injectors, and that way,you can get a view of the glow plug tips when you attempt to remove them from the engine.A 30MM deep socket is needed to remove the injectors. While threading the glow plug out, spray some penetrant on the tip while threading each glow plug out,and then place a pair of needle nose pliers upon the tip,so that if the tip breaks, the pliers will be there in position to catch the broken tip if in fact it breaks.Apply never-seize compound to the glow plug threads when you reinstall them.

Good advice, but....
Go easy on that penetrant! Any remaining in the cylinder once you are done will burn, just like #2. A run-away engine is no fun, and it could damage your new plugs. Pulling injectors on cylinders when the plug removes normally really isn't necessary. If the plugs are swelled, it's a good idea.

Thanks for the help. New plugs are in and work well. Still starts harder than it should, but thats another fix.
