I have a late 80's (88 I think) CUCV 6.2 that is going into a 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, backed by a 700R4. The trans shop asked what I wanted for the max RPM for the full-throttle shift point. Any opinions?

Thanks!

Maximum rpm is limited by the IP governor, anywhere between 3600-4100rpm.

You'll want your torque convertor stall speed to be between 1200-1800rpm (depends on your style of driving). Mine is 1600rpm and has proven to be excellent as it comes in as the engine approcahes peak torque rpms.

YMMV, but you'll probably want the WOT shift point to be somewhere around 2500-2800rpm for the 6.2L. My 700R4 shifts in that range under WOT when the engine is close to its torque/horsepower peak.

Most transmissions (700r4's) that I have had behind 6.2's shifted around 3500-3800 at WOT. I think that is where you want it to shift for a Naturally Aspirated 6.2. Turbo'ed than britannic's suggestion may be accurite.
