Question; Is there such a beast as a High Nickle block and if so when were they produced? If there is a beast like this would anyone suggest or recommend using a stud girdle on the rebuild process. I understood that this block was of the heavy duty style and the bottom end was a stout configeration.
Thanks Dan

From what I understand the 82 blocks had the highest nickel content of all.

What about the miltary blocks from the truck-blazer and the hummers? I've heard that they were of the high nickel content also. Does this make them less prone to the mains cracking?

I can't recall all the details from memory, but IIRC, the high nickel blocks are less prone to cracking. I've seen it stated here on this forum that not all military trucks had the high nickel blocks. So, the date code must be checked for an '82 or early '83 date. If you conduct a search, you should find the threads I have read in the past they were posted after the loss of info last year.

Hope this helps.
