Has anyone ever blocked off the turbo exhaust port on the exhaust manifold for a non turbo application?found a set of manifolds from a 94 6.5TD and want to use them on my 6.2l. I will be wanting to put a turbo on it later so I thought I could use these. I haven't been able to find a set of manifolds from a 6.5L n/a with the bigger exhaust outlet.

That will work, with either dual exhausts or a two-into-one pipe, like on the 350\454 trucks

Yep, should work just fine.

I was looking at an '86 Crew cab dually a while back. They had replaced the original 6.2L with a 6.5L, and they, too, had blocked off the turbo mount and was running it n/a. The owners didn't know that the vehicle the 6.5L came out of was a turbo until I pointed that out. In fact, they didn't seem to know much about the engine at all.

arveetek, In your sig line you got an 81 conversion: 6.2l turbo. What did you do special to put the turbo on? Email me the details if you like. michael_b@earthlink.net.
Thanks

You can read all about it in this thread. (http://forum.thedieselpage.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=002884)

You can also click on the photo album link my sig, and I have an entire album devoted to my turbo install.

Basically, I bought a used turbo, mounted it to a new Banks exhaust manifold and crossover pipe, and fabbed the rest by hand.

another question. Where can I get the bolts I need to put these manifolds on. My local dealers don't have the longer bolts for the back side of the right hand manifold.

A new problem that I did not notice before. the left side manifold drops done in front of no. 8 cylinder. the 6.5 manifold drods at the very back. The problem is the oil cooler lines as well a possibly the clutch rod being in the same spot. Anyone have a solution to this problem?

Was a change to hydraulic clutch on Diesel and 3500 trucks about '82, or so.

Find that setup, and run with it.

Or, a trip to the the local muffler shop can trick out the rest.
