silver box on firewall

does any body know what the silver box is on the fire wall to the left of the air cleaner that has two hoses going to it. it looks like mine has a leak and i want to fix it but i cant fix it if i dont know what it is. TIA

I guess it's the fuel filter/ heater assembly.
If it is on the pass.side off the truck and mounted to the fire wall.
There are a couple off wires too.
The water drain and air bleeding taps are known for leaking.
The heater element seal is too.

yes, that would be the filter assembly , if the leak is comming from the lines it probaly can be fixed , but if its internaly it may need to be replaced

The only place they can really leak from internally is the pressure switch. Fixing that is a simple matter of removing the filter ass'y, popping the switch out, putting a new O-ring on (with STP to lube it up), and reassembling in reverse order. Later filter housings got rid of the pressure switch, so short of a crack they shouldn't leak.
