Recently I have had to jump start my truck. I checked voltage at the alternator and found it to be about 10 volts. My truck had a 63 amp alt. so I ugraded to a 78 amp from a 85 Chevy 6.2.
I now have 15.5 volts at the alt but I'm only getting 13 volts at the battery. What would cause this. Electrical problems are usually not a problem but I'm not yet familiar with the 6.2 wiring.

One thing i remenbered. I caught the batt wire from the atl. on the valve cover and burnt out the fusable link at the firewall. I have replaced it.

Connections, Connections, Connections.

Make sure they are ALL clean and corrosion free, and reassembled with silicone dielectric grease. Or Neverseez.

Have you installed the improved Battery Terminal CONNECTIONS (http://www.thedieselpage.com/members/batterm.htm) as described in the Members Area? This has solved many electrical problems for scores, or maybe hundreds, of members, including me.
