pump time marks

I'm getting ready to put the pump on my fresh rebuild engine. Had the number one piston up when I put the balance on. While putting balance on must have turned the engine without noticing. Will the pump still be in time as long as the dots on the pump drive and pump are lined up? Any help would be great. thanks

You can rotate the engine w/o the injection pump installed but w/o the water pump, etc installed. As long as the cam driven gear and the IP drive gear dots are lined up then you'll be just fine. The reason for not rotating the engine w/o the IP installed is because w/o the pump holding the IP drive gear in place, it can possibly jump time by skipping a tooth because it's loose.

thanks man that is just what I wanted to here. I've got a jeep ride to get to next weekend then when I get back the dually is going in the shop to pull the gas engine out and in with the 6.5 turbo engine. thanks again for the help.
