Can anyone ID the hose with the arrows in the picture below??

It is a hose that is attached to the carb on my 1988 GMC C6000 gasser with the 366 cubic inch chevy motor.

I thought it was a fuel feed line, but I guess not. The line runs into a "coffee can" looking aperatus behind the bumper. You can not see it in the picture, but it has an inline filter closer to the coffee can.

Is it a vacuum line of some sort?? I put another carb on the truck but had no provision for this line. Right now it is just plugged with a bolt. I could detect no pressure in the line and nothing leaks from it with the truck running. The inside of the line appears to be a mixture of gas and oil.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

It's part of the vapor recovery system. The vapor canister should have 3 lines going to it, 1 from the tank, 1 from the carb, and the line with the filter is the vent. Basically it just collects fuel vapors and traps them in a charcoal canister.

Thank you soo much!!

Emissions aside, will it be ok to keep the line plugged and unhooked to the carb as there is no provision for it??

You don't even need to plug the line, all that will happen is vapors from the tank will vent to atmosphere. But not having it hooked up will cause absolutely no problems.
