Hello All,
I have an 87 c2500, 2wd, auto, 4.10 (currently adding turbo)and I found a 5 speed from a 91-95 chev 2wd. Can this be used and is it the same as a nv4500? I know gm used different 1st gear ratios. what would be best? Would there be any clearance issues? Can I use the stock shifter (I know I need the pedals from the older pickup like mine and I will probably need a driveshaft).
Thank you in advance for all your help,
Don Cannon

my 92 c1500 has an nv4500 and you will need to get the clutch master cyl and hose as the slave cyl is on the pass side of the bellhousing.

Thanks catmandoo. What will I use for linkage? Or is it inside the trans? Sorry, but I have not seen one of these up close. I am familiar with the muncie 4spd and the new 6 spd (corvette-zf and camaro/firebird trans).
"Thanks again for all your help!"
Don
I just done such a swap on my 80 model 4dr dually that I tow with. Not to hard of a swap my truck was orginally a auto also but I had put a four speed in it a few years ago. I had a set of hydro clutch pedals from a 85-up that used that set up. I used a m/c from that same year and slave from a 92 hose from a 92 also worked good with a little extra bending. I had to use the nv4500 bellhousing for the hydro set up it comes on the pass side. I also swapped a 91 model sub instrument cluster into this to gain a electronic speedometer. I used my old tranny crossmember moved back with two new holes drilled in frame. My front shaft with the carrier bearing had to be cut down to fit. I wish I had been able to done the swap a few years ago when I was really using the truck it has done really well about reducing the rpms the engine is turning at speed. I'm running a 4.10 gear with a 235-85-16 tire.

Thanks alot guys,
This sounds easy and with my 2wd 87 c2500 it should be easy as soon as i find a donor truck. Will the nv4500 handle the torque that a turbo diesel puts out?
Thanks,
Don

works good for me.one thing to look out for is the pilot bearing, they are terrible for just plain goin to hell in a hurry, most people go to a brass bushing to cure the problem
