Hi to all,

in the process of installing gear drive and new injection pump I accidently rotate the crankshaft & camshaft while gears and pump were off.

The two gears will only fit in one position, so aligning the marks (by turning camshaft and/or crankshaft) as outlined in the DSG instruction sheet should correct the timing. Hope I'm not wrong on that one . . .

If that's the way to go, next step is aligning the marks on pump drive gear and driven gear, right?

With gear drive and a new pump I think I will align the marks on the pump and cover too.

I really appreciate your replies.

What a day, 7 hours working in steady rain in the driveway. Worst so far was - except my stupidness with rotating the engine - installing the 4 oilpan bolts to the front cover, that took me about 2 hours.

Tomorrow I will order a new balancer, inspection showed that the rubber bonding is not as even as it should be.
I'm wondering if I could double britannic's $77. Parts are really expensive here in Germany.
