'85 M1028 (My first Diesel)

For the last year I have been driving an '85 M1028. It is the first diesel I have owned. It is my daily driver and I only do about 8K-10K miles a year. It has 60K on the clock. Is there any potential problem spots to be aware of? The truck has been extremely reliable (except TH400 rebuild) so far. Also any suggestions for some more power and friendlier gearing on a tight budget?

Congratulations! Check out my M1028 photos in my sig. below. Also, www.oliverdiesel.com (http://www.oliverdiesel.com) has some excellent information on the turbo mod we did on our trucks. An overdrive transmission is a great upgrade that will allow you use those awesome torque making gears with reasonable freeway speeds. I used a custom made 700R4 to handle the torque and it's been really reliable - however the torque convertor just failed, although the tranny kept working.
