Central Texas Wheelin'

I just got back from the Central Texas Clubs Run held at Katemcy Rocks near Mason, TX.

We couldn't have asked for better weather. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, it was 70*, and an easy breeze was blowing all day.

I went on the usual medium difficulty trails, but afterwards, I hooked up with a group of guys that were going on a couple of 5 diamond trails (the hardest trail rating: 35"+ tires & 2 lockers). I didn't know just how hard the trails were going to be, but the names should have given them away - Backbreaker and Waterfall.

The 6.2TD performed quite well. The truck got the usual questions: is that a diesel; why is it on the trail!?

The road between College Station and Mason is comprised mainly of rolling hills. I installed a square-cut o-ring on the intake to replace the Banks gasket that was blown apart. After that and shimming the wastegate, the TE06H turbo was happy doing about 14 psi of boost.

Looks like a great time! When I was stationed in OK, the wheeling there was a lot better than I'd thought it would be. Is that a dark blue Scout I see in the left center background?

That's a purple Rhino-Lined J10 Jeep.

Oh, OK, the overall size, lack of doors & top and windshield angle made me think of an SSII Scout.

Wow... looks like fun. Wish I could have been there. Even if I had the time, I think the boggers on my truck would have been baby's butt smooth by the time I made the trek 2/3 of the way across the country! Good ol' West Virginia ain't close! Glad to hear you had a good time. Do you have more pic's?
