Oil Pressure Sender?

Hey all,

Does anyone know if the oil pressure sender on the back side of the drivers side head controls anything other than the gauge on my 83 6.2? I'm intending to replace the unit with a mechanical gauge, and I don't want to mess up anything when I remove it.

On the 1983 6.2L, the sender is just for the gauge or it's a switch for models with an oil light.
