1986 6.2 diesel

I have a chance to buy a 1986 3/4 ton diesel suburban. Was wondering what things to look for? Also is 86 a good year or just an ok year, what years are the better years?

kaylabryn,As far as the 86 being any better or worse than any other is difficult to answer as there are good and bad in all years.
First the plus the 3/4 ton is the best all round sub IMO as it has better towing capabilities.
Second it has the updated glow controler.
Third as a 3/4 ton it should be the J series without the EGR valve.
On the down side the 6.2 is not a powerhouse with out a few mods, mainly exhaust,turbo,pump,etc.
Mainly if you can get this rig at a decent price it will allow you some leway on whatever mod you may want in the future.
One advantage is that this truck has the mechanical IP which will allow for some decent mods without worrying about all that computer stuff.
