glow plug installation problem

Hello everyone, im new to the list and to diesels. I am in the process of replacing my glow plugs. They are all coming out fine but the new plugs (60G) only thread in about 1/3 of the way in. Im pretty sure they arent cross threading, I was very careful of this as I have had problems with spark plugs before. I torqued them down and everything started and idled fine, im just worried that they might shoot out due to the high pressure and little amount of thread holding on. Please let me know if this is a normal thing or if something is wrong.

Okay, I realized that the plugs ARE actually seating as far as the existing ones were. The corrosion on the old plugs made them a lot harder to take out than to put the new ones in.
