Rear disc brake conversion

Has anyone done a rear drum brake to disc brake conversion on a full floating GM axle?
As most know the rear drum brakes are the pits! Been through different lining, new upgraded proportioning valve, adjustmenst seem to make a small improvement for about a week. :rolleyes: I did some searching on the net and found some kits, some with very little in componets, and some with new master cylinder, proporting valve, hubs/bearings tubing etc. but with a hefty price tag. :eek:

THE KITS I HAVE SEEN ARE ABOUT $75 AND YOU PROVIDE THE ROTORS AND CALIPERS. ONE PLACE TOLD ME I SHOULD NOT NEED TO DO ANY THING WITH THE PROPORTIONING VALVE BUT I DONT KNOW IF I WOULD GO OFF OF THAT. HERES THE NAMES OF THE PLACES I HAVE FOUND.

I've been doing a bit of research on rear disk conversions as well. Here's a little more info.

Some experienced fabricators recommend buying a complete "take-off" rear disk parts set from a 2001 or newer 2500HD, when converting the FF axle equipped vehicles, then make adapters to fit the GM 10.5" axle. You may also be able to adapt the rear wheel sensors from the new truck brake/hub assys to maintain your ABS.

In my case, I only need a light-duty rear disk setup, so I can use a 1/2 ton rear disk set from a 1999 Silverado/Sierra or newer.
