Has anyone ever installed a 6 speed in a 6.2 diesel? and if so what was it out of? Viper, Corvette, Camaro, Firebird or was it aftermarket Richmond, etc.
Thanks for your help in advance,
Don

I would recommend the NV5600, it's not cheap and really long (gearshift is way in the back), but it was designed to stand up to high torque and is very rugged, especially. in a 4wd.

the viper and '03 and up cobra mustang t56 are rated to handle over 500 ft lbs. You'd need a bellhousing from a '97 or earlier LT1 camaro or corvette. The diesel specific flywheel and pressure plate, and whatever disk matches the splines on the input shaft, I think those are 26 spline. I thought about this on my blazer, but adapting one to an NP208 didn't seem fun.

To my knowledge, since the bellhousing is integral to the case and there's no Chevy pattern available right now, it's not a bolt up matter. I don't think Advance Adapters even has anything. An NV4500 with a splitter would be a nice option.

Good point Dave, I've become too Cummins centric and forgot the subtlety of the Chevy bellhousing bolt pattern :D .

I saw an article in Four Wheeler a while back where someone put an NVG5600 in somrthing other than a Dodge. Apparently a company made a complete bellhousing/case front that replaced the factory one. It was expensive, and required taking the tranny apart to install, but was/is the only way to adapt to anything beside a Dodge engine.

You could always look for a ZF 6-speed from a GM, although I don't know how they rate compared to the NV.

Would a ZF bolt-up to earlier blocks?Did pattern stay the same?

You mean a ZF S6-650 like my 2500HD has? Bolt pattern is the same as any current GM tranny. smile.gif Of course the Ford version has a differnt pattern, and those are 50 times more common than the GMs. :(

Yes,that`s what I`m talking about, the S6-650.Does GM still use the same bellhousing to engine bolt pattern as with 6.5/6.2&Big/Small blocks?
