Finished repairs today and the coolant stays inside. So I guess I did OK ;)
Only have a minor fuel leak at the left bank, probably on off those injector leak return hoses.
Have the new injectors installed and a new 190* thermostat.
Had a short test drive and everything looks and feels allright.
Offcourse making modifications give trouble; the turbo oil return pipe is now in contact with the no.2 injectorline :( bending the injectorlines to meet the shorter injectors, made it not any easier to get the already narrow clearance for the oilpipe.
Have a piece off rubber pushed between them and fix it later.
Check the timing next week or so after the fixing the things above, and then on to the next step in the project :D
I'll keep you posted,
Peter

Congratulations, Peter. I am sure you are very happy that the repairs are behind you, and now you can concentrate on the modifications to come.
Now we just need to figure how to get your truck across the ocean for the pull-off in Montana in July.

Not this year Doc,
But we are seriously conciddering to attent the rendezvous next year if the modifications turn out all right.
Have to find out about customs and DOT and so how to pull this off.
I only shipped a truck from the US the Europe but that one was here to stay, and no way I leave my baby over there ;)
Any input would be welcome....
The shipment up and down would be expensive but hey vacations allways is :D

;) ;) GO over to NATO headquarters in Brussels, find a U.S. soldier rotating home, and let him claim your truck is his truck, and we U.S. taxpayers will pay for the trip. Then this soldier will identify his counterpart who is moving TO Brussels, and that soldier will claim the truck is HIS, and we U.S. taxpayers will send it back to Europe for you.
Void where prohibited, obey all local laws and regulations, Euro-dollar conversion rates not guaranteed, your mileage may vary . . . .

I have been thinking about the Doc's plan,
with the three color camoflage paint, I can park it at the army's depot in Antwerp, and no one will notice.
Only thing is, it might end up in Iraq  :D
I will call a few shipping company's and find out the cost....
I've been told that it's virtualy impossible to bring older cars to the US, but with Dutch licence plates on it, its only visiting...Anybody?

Ship it to Canada and drive across the border into Montana. In fact driving the Queen's Highway (did I remember that correctly?) could be a great trip for you.

If it come to that, I have some people to visit and depending on where the rendezvous is going to be next year, I decide where to ship.
I think it is a adventure anyway to see the states from my own truck instead off a plane :D
we'll see,

Well, Peter, in that case have your truck shipped to Miami, and we can convoy to wherever the 2005 Rendezvous is being held. I will even loan you a CB radio for the ride. That will show you a side of America that many Europeans don't have a clue about  . Maybe we could get Patrick Frigge to join us. I promised him he could drive my truck when he comes to the States.
Dr. Lee
PS: we need to think about a European Rendezvous. Wouldn't you like to see Kennedy's Duramax and More Power's latest project dusting off Porsches and Mercedes on the Autobahn ? :D ?
I would also like to bring my truck over there and teach the Europeans how to spell "Nitrous".

Miami is on the right side for sure, I like the idea off teaming up and ride the convoy.
I have a couple off CB's somewere, just have to dust them off a little.
I've been thinking on that Euro rendezvous ( it's an European word afterall ;) ) I might put up a message in the forums and see what happens.
Every truck or car is welcome to see if they can compete with European brands
I know a few cars who love to show you how it's done :D
