"good" starter bolts

Anyone have a good source for the correct length and high grade starter bolts for the 6.2? All Napa has is a "universal" bolt, which is about a quarter inch to long and grade 9.8. Had a snapped bolt on our 8.2 Suburban starter. Installed the Napa bolt to get it back for the Misses (her Mothers Day gift), but wondering if a correct lenght, high grade bolt is available?

Get them from the dealer or www.gmpartsdirect.com, (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com,) I found you can't beat the OEM quality and the price is pretty reasonable for 5 in a box.

Just to repeat what many of you already know:

1. Make sure the support bracket between the starter and the block is in place on the forward end (as it sits in the truck) of your starter. The absence of this bracket has caused many broken starter bolts.

2. Be sure to torque the bolts properly, to 40 ft-lbs. And then re-check the torque after 500 miles, after 1000 miles, and at every oil change thereafter.

3. There is a difference of opinion as to the value of Loc-Tite on these bolts. My opinion is that the aluminum housing of the starter can crush slightly, so the bolts need to be turned and tightened to restore the torque value. So I do NOT recommend the Loc-Tite. Your mileage may vary, slightly higher west of the Rockies, batteries not included, void where prohibited.

I will do as the Dr. suggests and check the starter bolts at each oil change (15mm wrench). Not sure how long I had been going with only one bolt. A disaster waiting to happen.

I have to back Brittanic up on using genuine GM starter bolts. I picked up some new ones for about $4 at the local Chevy house. The front bracket for the gear-reduction 28MT starter (PN 23502557) is about $1.75 or so. Check the nearest couch for funding. :D

I was a little reluctant to go to dealer. Spent $20 to buy bolts for 3rd seat swivel. Was a metric bolt with large "v" on the sides of the head so no similar one available from any bolt supplyer. Dealer had none in stock and I had to buy a set of 5 (not the one that I required). Bolt way essentialy a 1/4" x 1.5" bolt, so I got reamed.
