While my engine is out, and since one of them is bad anyway, I've decided to upgrade my old motor mounts with polyurethane replacements. In my shopping around on the autozone.com website, it looks like the 6.2 takes the same regular mounts as the 350 and 305 (anchor #2292). Unfortuately, the energy suspension catalog lists a replacement for the 305, PN 3.1116, but not for the 6.2L. Fortunately, it also lists the 3.1116 as a replacement for the 2292. So, before I order a pair of 3.1116 mounts, I was wondering if anyone has burned this bridge before and what is the correct part number?

I used the Chevy 350ci mounts from Energy Suspension - they're an exact fit, once you split the original clamshells and remove the old rubber inserts.

According to the LMC catalog,www.LMCTRUCK.com(sorry, can't remember how to set up the link.) ,1982-1983 6.2's used the 250,305,307,350 mounts (maybe all military CUCV's ?)1984-1991 6.2's used the 454 2wd mounts.
I have found that The LMC catalogs alone, are woth their weight in gold.

Hope that helps.

Brittanic, how was the vibration after the new mounts. I was hesistant to install poly mounts since I didn't want my teeth rattled out of my head. At least, that's the story I got from a lot of off-road guys. ;)

Didn't feel a thing, if anything it was better. My 6.2L was really smooth under heavy boost in any case :D .

I just bought a poly NV4500 Energy suspension rear mount to tighten up the shift feel.

LMC is great for parts that can be found nowhere else. But,they seem to think their parts are worth their weight in gold,if not more.Shop around, you`ll see. Also watch them for cheap imitations. They make substitutions where they see fit and some of their reproductions aren`t worth a dime.Just beware and get some other catalogs.I don`t mean to badmouth, but more to lend knowledge from 30yrs experience restoring ol`jimmys.

My mounts came in today and they fit perfectly. Engergy Suspension PN 3-1116. I got them from Jegs for $25 each.

A word of caution for anybody rebuilding their motor mounts for the 6.2 using Energy Suspension parts. After reading this article and another one, I went out to get the PN 3.1116 as suggested. I found it is not the correct part for my application which is a 1984 6.2 Jimmy. The 3.1116 is for a 'clamshell' with four bolt holes. After later researching the Energy Suspension site, I saw there are two options. The second is the PN 3.1121 which is meant for the three bolt 'clamshell' which is the one I have. (The site doesn't actually list options for the 6.2 and 6.5 diesels, just by 'clamshell' description.) If you try putting the 3.1116 in the three bolt 'clamshell', it will fit way too loosely, even though it looks sort of right. The 3.1121 will fit very snugly in the clamshell and is larger than the stock rubber, but still fits perfectly on the mount. So in summary, check your clamshells! smile.gif

I will look into this... I need new motor mounts on my '83 K-5, and when I put the turbo on the '84 K-30 in the next few weeks, I'll replace them on it also... thanks for the info!
