The mechanical 6.5L IP and injectors will work fine, the 6.2L inj. lines will need to be slightly tweaked as the 6.5LTD inj. have a shorter body. Without a turbo, the pump will very likely need to be turned down if it was calibrated for the turbocharged engine.

no turbo at this time i have to get new pump and inj. so i was thinking if i got 6.5 pump and inj would the truck gain more power its a 1985 6.2

Hi,

Switching to a 6.5 pump/injectors without an increase in air will give you higher EGT's, which will force you to lower your fuel rate. Going to a higher pressure (6.5 system), will reduce injector noise, besides the obvious of putting a shorter burst of fuel in the cylinders.

If you intend to turbo the truck in the near future, then the 6.5 pump/injectors would save you from doing the r/r procedure twice.

I noticed a drop of 2-3 mpg when I switched to a 6.5 system. I added a banks turbo at the same time. More than likely, the drop is because I now enoy the monster under the hood...

More air will need to be drawn into the engine to get more power. A free flowing exhaust and intake will be required.

Here's one idea for a better intake: 6.2 intake kit (http://forum.thedieselpage.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=002272).

Dr. Lee devised a double stack air cleaner box and header adaptors for more flow - do a search for his posts for more info.

[/QB]I've tried to find info on how he made his very nice double stack (think I saw somewhere, it uses a pair of Olds 442 elements) cold air system . . . I'm guessing it disapeared . . . :(
