I got a good deal on a 1985 "J" motor and opened it up yesterday, cracked left head, water in the jugs, no problem on the head (I have four or six others to choose from) and the motor has signs of being rebuilt. The Timing chain set is worn out, Should I go to gear drive? what is the price difference between a new chain set and a gear drive? does anyone have a good used gear drive they would like to part with? I do have two more old chain sets but i am not sure if they are swappable, one is out of an unknown year van and the other is from an 82 J motor(pickup)
