My new oil pump arrived today, now I am ready to re-assemble eveything from my rear oil seal replacement.

The instructions I have in the R&R guide, indicate I should use a little anaerobic sealer on the bearing cap when I reassemble it. I can not find the anaerobic sealer anywhere and I am ready to finish the job.

The instructions included with my rear seal indicate I should use RTV gasket sealer (which I have) on the bearing cap. Is this right? How thin should I spead it? Paper-thin?

Loc-tite is an example of an anaerobic sealant, and you can get that almost anywhere. Your local NAPA store should have a selection of anaerobic sealants, and if the counterman gives you a blank look, ask him where the silicone and Loc-Tite display is. Then read the labels and pick what you need. I would use regular old Loc-Tite 242 in a pinch.

And spread the silicone thin. You want to use it as a seal, not a structural member.
