cooling upgrade for the old school!

I ordered my 110gpm peninsular water pump today with thoughts of modifying a hmmwv 10 blade composite fan to bolt to a heath diesel severe duty fan clutch. "any thoughts on if the clutch will hold up?" I was also curious to know if the new water pump will be defeated by a single t-stat cross over with a r-shaw 185* t-stat????

As far as I know, Pen ran/runs their V-belt hi-cap wpump with a single t-stat.

Don't know enough about either the Hummer fan or the V-belt fan-clutch to know if the larger/more agressive fan might be too much for the viscous drive or not.

I'd probably try it...

thanks for the reply!! I was mainly curious if the higher flow rate would be somewhat restricted by the diameter of the crossover? I know that a 97 -up cooling upgrade would be the best but I don't have time or funds for that right now. the fan I was thinking of moifying is http://www.stock-number.com/HUMMV-HMMWV-fan.php and I hope for better airflow this way!!

I run a modified steel/ aluminum 8 blade 21 inch fan on a stock clutch and it worked well til last weekend.
The clutch locked up permanently, this was the oem clutch who had 100.000 miles of service.
It will probably hold up for a long time on a new clutch.

This fan is a customized fan from a Volvo L90C wheel loader and was 25inch and cut down to fit my application.( lookup the TTD article published on this website a wile back, Boost on a budget, 2003)
Its no where for sale but you might want to get creative and find/ make your own.
