View Full Version : Exhaust Crossover Pipe
How important is position of this? Does length matter? Where I seem to have space for it it would be only 2-3" long. I could possibly mount it nearer the engine but it would mean a lot more fabrication an dnot great for off-road

Which turbo system are you putting together? ATS, Banks, or a 6.5TD turbo setup? I think that keeping the pipe shorter would be better to keep the heat energy and air velocity to drive the turbo. But this is within reason, keeping this hot pipe away from components and taking note of components that might have to be removed that the pipe might prevent you from removing.

I believe he's talking about an "H" pipe for a dual exhaust system on an n/a engine, like Dr. Lee has.
However, I think that length probably doesn't matter much, as all it's doing is equalizing the exhaust pulses. Actually, shorter is probably better, although closer to the engine would be good as well.

The cross over pipe I was refering to is for a dual exhaust being fitted to a customised 6.2 NA from the diesel depot, which I am fitting in a Land Rover 110. It looks like so far that I will be OK with the short pipe, and it would make life easier to fabricate.
