View Full Version : Need a 6.2 Engine
The C code Turbo 6.2 in my suburban is on its last legs. There is excessive blowby and it's becoming increasingly hard to start. Anyway, I'm looking for a used replacement. If anyone has a lead on one cheap (sub $1000) I'd be interested. I'm in Phoenix so the closer the better, but if the price is right, I could pay to ship it :)
Thanks

Mirage,
Coincidently my 1985 6.2L took a very bad turn for the worst a couple of days ago. It's looks like will be needing to replace my motor too. I got about a 1/2 mile from work when the engine started to sound like someone putting rocks in very big blender. I am working in Chandler and Tempe for the next couple of months and I need to find a reputable mechanic that knows about diesels and that can do an engine swap. I would do this myself but I am a long ways from home. Can you recommend a place in the Phoenix area?

TimK Did you rule out a loose torque convertor, or are the engine symptoms obvious?
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I haven't found any mechanics down here yet, though I suspect I may need to, to avoid buying a diesel timing set. I'll let you know if I find a place. I'm having a tough time finding an engine to do my swap (hopefully I can convince my brother in law to let me use his garage ;). The engines I've got an eye on are a long way to drive.

Rocks in a blender. Sounds like mine when the crank broke in half, and kept running. Cause, broken main bearing bosses.
