I have installed new AC glow plugs, rebuilt the starter and replaced batteries to improve cold weather starting. The glow plug controller is also newer (2yrs old)
When I start my truck up it smokes heavy but only on the driver side. The truck runs rough until this side clears out. I am baffled by why only smoke from one side? Also how do I check for return flow from the injectors for air in the circuit on this bank?

Can be a faulty glow plug or a failing injector - would smoke only on the defective cylinder, either bank, not both.

Get some clear plastic hose, same dia as the injector return line tubing, and substitute it on each injector, starting at the rear, where it comes across from the opposite bank.

And remember - that clear hose softens easily with heat, so do not leave the engine running unattended.

I can understand how that clear plastic hose could help look for air leaks but how will it help in the diagnosis of a bad injector or glow plug?
