I just bought a 84 diesel S-10 extended cab 5-speed I never seen one untill I saw this one on ebay I had to have it It gets 37 MPG! pretty cool , they dont make many cars today that even get 37 mpg. Does anybody know about these engines will I have any problems? It has 104K on the clock runs like a top. I still cant beleive they didnt make many of these trucks!

I believe that is the isuzu c223 2.3l motor that is normally aspirated at 54hp.

If that's what you've got, it has weak connecting rods, don't turbo it, you'll shell the motor. Also they are famous for head cracks. I got one of those motors with 80K on the OD with plans to put in in a flatfender. I've read aussie's that get 200,000 out of them if not abused.

If you like the truck, I believe you can still get the c223t which is the 86hp turbocharged version. It has lower compression, stronger con-rods, and a redesigned head to eliminate the crack problem.

Let me know if that's what you've got, you should be able to find C223 in raised letters cast into the block.
