For those of you with a Banks Sidewinder Turbo in the 82-87 style trucks, how many hangers do you have along the entire length of the exhaust piping, and where are they located? Since mine is in a 78 C10 that used to have dual exhaust for a 5.7 diesel I'm not sure my set up is right. Thanks.

I'm the wrong guy to ask because absolutely nothing in the exhaust system fit on my truck expcept the downpipe. Did anybody's banks stuff bolt up where it was supposed to?

Randy,I have the sidewinder kit on my 80 silverado 4x4 6.5, I have 3 hangers total on the system.
The kit only came with 2 hangers but I added one cause I didn't like the distance between hangers.
Hanger #1 off of rear cab mount in front of muffler this is the one I added cause its just toooo far from turbo to clamp #2 at rear of muffler.
Clamp #3 on short straight section of tailpipe just to rear of axle bend where it levels out.
Maybe I'm just lucky but all the piping fit fine but it takes a lot of tweaking with rotation of muffler offsets to make it line up but it did,so no complaints here,
Even got the airbox to fit the older front clip with a minimum of @#$%#$ words.
Mine purchased July of 02 maybe new improved design?.............Merle

Thanks, Merle.
I only have two (where your two back ones are) and I also don't like the distance from the engine all the way to the back. I think it is contributing to a bit of a resonant vibration at certain RPMs. Being connected at the downpipe and then at the end makes it into one long vibrating pipe not unlike a guitar string! I'm going to put another hanger in front of the muffler half way between the down pipe and exhaust tip for peace of mind and to see if it does dampen the vibration.

I know what you mean about the air box. I had to modify my right battery tray (I had a left one too as this used to be a 5.7 diesel) a bit but it all fit in mighty tighty! I had to bend over part of the frame where the downpipe exits the engine compartment to keep it from hitting. My Banks exhaust pieces fit pretty well especially since I was expecting a lot of trouble given my conversion project.
