I am replacing my stanadyne model 80- filter assembly with a racor set-up as my stanadyne unit is leaking again.
Will standard thread tape be ok to use on the fittings? Or do I need to use something else?

n/m I had some thread sealer that did the trick.
BTW the install went really well (for a change) and the truck started right up. After a few mins, the air was purged and a nice smooth idle is the result!

As I am staring this same problem right in the face I would be interested knowing in which Racor unit you choose as a replacement( for fitment reasons). Does it have a heater?

I used the model 690 filter assembly as I got a killer deal on one on ebay. I placed it in the same spot and used the bracket from the old assebly to mount the Racor unit on with a little ghetto fabrication. The fit is tight, but the higher you mount it, the more room you have (obviously), I can get the filter in and out with no problem. When I replace the filter element, I will use a 60 series element to maximize clearance.
The unit does have a heater, annd a water detection unit. I have not hooked either up yet, but will soon.
