I have heard rumours the van engine -89 heads are more prone to crack than the truck engines; what do you think? Are they identical with the same year truck engines or are there a difference?

the 8th digit of the VIN is "G" (whatever it means..?)

thank you, smile.gif

The biggest difference that I'm aware of between a van engine and a truck engine is the injectors are a litter shorter for the van...( the injector pump distrubution lines are longer) to clear the close opening and cover in the engine compartment. The van also uses a belt driven vaccum pump and a different oil filler neck , also because of the closeness of the engine cover.
All 6.2 heads are prone to cracking between the intake and exhaust valves on the end cylinders but are easily fixed by tubing them with a kit made specifically for the job by K Line... model KL3900. The repair is permanant, I have successfully repaired several this way...beats welding by a mile !!!!
